BTCTC Series 4 'The Simulation' and the Golden Key Pack

Orange Pill In A Pack Series 4: The Simulation is a 399-card set with a published print run behind every card, released alongside a 420-unit Experience Box whose six-card Golden Key Pack is played rather than simply opened, and one pack in the run redeems for a car. This guide covers both checklists, tier by tier.

808 cards across 16 sets, catalogued and ready to track.

BTCTC Orange Pill In A Pack Series 4 collector's guide

What is Orange Pill In A Pack Series 4?

Based Trading Cards is a California collective known for fine-art production and for disclosing the print run of everything it makes. Series 4: The Simulation, released in February 2026, is the fourth entry in their Orange Pill In A Pack line, themed around waking up from a manufactured reality: fiat currency, surveillance, media programming, and the Bitcoin counter-narrative. BTCTC disclosed a total run of 21,000 packs, 875 hobby boxes and 420 Experience Boxes, with every hobby box serialised and number-stamped. Every pack contains a serialised chase card, so the floor of the set is still a numbered card. The full checklist, with front and back artwork for every card and treatment, is on HoloHoard.

The base set and its four parallels

The base set is 63 cards, split across nine thematic categories: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Warrior, Freedom, The Simulation, Tyranny, Fiat Currency, Education, Economics and Resources. Each of those 63 cards then exists in four colour parallels, and each parallel carries a disclosed supply rather than a vague rarity label. The numbers are chosen to reference Bitcoin: Gold sits at 421 and Orange at 210, echoing the 21 million cap, and Silver lands on 669. Collecting one card in all five treatments is a fixed, countable target.

Above the base set sit 84 serialised chase cards arranged into named tiers, running from Rare at 1,000 copies down to the 21 Block Reward one-of-ones. Every tier has a fixed, published print run rather than an approximate range, so a chase can be planned against real numbers. The two Honors cards, Bitcoin Miner and Bitcoin Tractor Day, sit at /256, and the five 21 Club cards at /21, the smallest print run in the set outside the one-of-ones.

Cards that react to heat, and cards that glow

The scarcer Series 4 tiers are separated by production technique, not just by colourway. Epic Fire and Epic ICE cards are printed with thermal interactive ink, so the artwork changes as the card warms or cools in your hand. Others carry glow-in-the-dark elements that only show in the dark, some react to sunlight, and the chase cards use a frameless design that lets the art run edge to edge. The packaging is part of the release too: four box designs, four wrapper designs, and a light-bending foil that produces a glitch-like 3D effect. The printing behind it won a Gold Leaf Award from the Foil and Specialty Effects Association, and it is worth reading about on its own.

The Block Reward 1/1s: cards that redeem for the original painting

The top of the main set is the Block Reward subset: 21 one-of-one cards, one for each million of Bitcoin's supply cap. Each one also carries the right to claim the original hand-painted artwork the card was made from, which makes them the only cards in the set with a second, physical object attached. As of August 2026, 6 of the 21 have been reported found. They are HERO OF THE UNKNOWN FACE, Madex, PepeNardo, Asanoha, The Phoenix of Money and The Honey Badger. The other 15 have not been reported. HoloHoard runs a community 1/1 tracker for the whole BTCTC catalogue, with owner-submitted photos of each one as it is found. See which BTCTC 1/1s have been found.

The Experience Box: 420 boxes, and a game inside

Running alongside the main set is the Series 4 Experience Box, limited to 420 units worldwide. It is not simply a larger box: the tools for opening it ship as part of the product. Each box holds a serialised Series 4 hobby box, an original 1/1 Series 4 printing plate, a black and gold collector binder, white cotton gloves, custom black and gold scissors, four parallel deck boxes, a set map and checklist, a numbered fine art print out of 105, a gold-plated Golden Key artifact, and, inside a miniature Challenger, the Golden Key Pack itself. The cards in that pack exist nowhere else in Series 4 and are catalogued separately.

Red Light, Green Light: how the Golden Key Pack is played

The Golden Key Pack is six cards, and you are meant to reveal them one at a time without looking ahead. The first card is the rules card, Welcome to the Chase. The last card is the Hit Hider, which conceals what you have won until you are ready. In between sits the game: each Green Light you turn over keeps the chase alive, and the Red Light ends it. Ending the chase is not the same as losing: the moment your run stops, the pack pays out a serialised hit, and the further you got before the Red Light, the scarcer that hit is. One pack in the entire print run never turns over a Red Light at all.

The print runs add up exactly

BTCTC published the print run of every card in the Golden Key Pack, and those print runs form a closed accounting system: the whole game can be audited from the checklist alone, without taking the stated odds on trust. The Red Light card exists in exactly 419 copies, which is 250 plus 100 plus 69: every pack that fails, and no more. The Green Light exists in 241, which is 100 packs seeing one, 69 packs seeing two, and the winning pack seeing three. The five Pop of Culture designs at /150 make 750 cards, exactly three each for 250 packs. The five Satoshi's Stash designs at /40 make 200, exactly two each for 100 packs. And the five Lucky 13s at /13 plus the four Sacred Singles come to 69, exactly one each for the 69-pack tier. Nothing is left over and nothing is short. The 1-in-420 odds on the car do not have to be taken on trust; they are visible in the supply.

The Experience Box exclusives

Because every path through the game pays out, every Experience Box yields at least one serialised exclusive. The four exclusive subsets are only obtainable this way and never appear in regular Series 4 packs. Pop of Culture at /150 is the entry tier and the most common outcome, landing in 250 of the 420 packs. Satoshi's Stash at /40 includes The Sovereign Knight. The Lucky 13s at /13 include The Nostrider, The Dose Designer and The Badger Strikes Back. The Sacred Singles are one-of-ones.

The Sacred Singles and the first Satoshi's Heroes cards

There are four Sacred Singles, each a 1/1, and two of them reach beyond this set: Satoshi's Heroes Vol. 1 and THE 9 VICES SH Vol. 1 are the first physical cards from the Satoshi's Heroes universe, which BTCTC has described as their first mainstream-scale project. So far one of the four Sacred Singles has been reported found: The Birth of Financial Sovereignty. The Table of Tyrants, THE 9 VICES and Satoshi's Heroes Vol. 1 are still unaccounted for, so both Satoshi's Heroes cards are presumably still unopened.

The Golden Key Card: still unclaimed

One card in 420 packs is the Golden Key Card, and it redeems for a custom 2021 BASED Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody valued at $69,000, or, if the winner prefers, $45,000 in Bitcoin at the value on the day of the win. It is an industry first: a trading card that redeems for a car. As of August 2026 nobody has reported pulling it, so the single Green-Green-Green pack is presumably still unopened in one of the 420 Experience Boxes. See the Golden Key Card in the catalogue.

Track Series 4 and the Golden Key Pack on HoloHoard

Between 63 base cards, four parallel treatments, fourteen serialised tiers and a second 24-card checklist locked behind the Experience Box, Series 4 is a lot to keep track of on paper. HoloHoard has the complete interactive checklist for both: mark what you have pulled, record the serial numbers on your numbered cards, build wishlists for the tiers you are still hunting, and follow value estimates as the set settles. If you are opening an Experience Box, having the Golden Key Pack checklist open tells you which path your pack took as you reveal it. Browse the full BTCTC catalogue.
