Pokémon Mezastar Galaxy Version 2 launched July 2, 2026, and it is the biggest mechanical update the Galaxy series has had: Gigantamax joins the lineup for the first time, Double Move debuts on two Legendary tags, and Dynamax, Mega Evolution, Z-Move and Chain Tag all return with new Pokémon. Here is a look at every new ability and the tags that carry it.
Zacian and Zamazenta are the first tags in the series with Double Move, attacking twice in a single turn. Zacian carries the Steel-type move "Behemoth Blade" and the Fairy-type move "Moonblast." Zamazenta carries the Steel-type move "Behemoth Bash" and the Fighting-type move "Close Combat."
Gigantamax joins Pokémon Mezastar for the first time through two ultra-powerful Superstar tags. Duraludon's G-Max Move is the Dragon-type "G-Max Depletion." Charizard's G-Max Move is the Fire-type "G-Max Wildfire." Triggering Gigantamax is designed to swing a battle on its own.
A Chain Attack Chance can trigger the first time Serperior, Emboar or Samurott uses its move, unleashing a continuous assault from up to three Pokémon. Serperior's move is the Grass-type "Leaf Storm." Emboar's move is the Fire-type "Flare Blitz." Samurott's move is the Water-type "Hydro Pump."
Zarude and Lucario debut with Dynamax, joined by Dracozolt, Dracovish and Alakazam. Zarude's Grass-type Max Move is "Max Overgrowth." Lucario's Fighting-type Max Move is "Max Knuckle." Dracozolt's Electric-type Max Move is "Max Lightning." Dracovish's Dragon-type Max Move is "Max Wyrmwind." Alakazam's Psychic-type Max Move is "Max Mindstorm."
Rayquaza can Mega Evolve into Mega Rayquaza and use the Flying-type move "Dragon Ascent." Metagross can Mega Evolve into Mega Metagross and use the Steel-type move "Meteor Mash." A Mega Evolution changes the tag's appearance and raises its stats, including the number shown on the roulette.
Haxorus and Aerodactyl both carry a Z-Move. Haxorus can unleash the Dragon-type Z-Move "Devastating Drake." Aerodactyl can unleash the Flying-type Z-Move "Supersonic Skystrike." A Z-Move can only be used once per battle, so timing it right matters.
Beyond the headline tags, Galaxy Version 2 fills out its Star and standard tiers with a wide roster, from starter evolution lines like Floragato and Quaxwell to returning favorites like Gardevoir, Milotic and Roserade.
