Far, far, far beyond Pluto, a circle of icy bodies surrounds our solar system. This is the Oort Cloud, named for astronomer Jan Oort, who in 1950 proposed its existence. When something disturbs one of its icy body's orbit, it streaks away - becoming a comet.
