Exoplanets are those beyond our solar system. The first were found in 1992 by astronomers Aleksander Wolszczan and Dale Frail, near a pulsar 2,300 light-years away. In 1995, graduate student Didier Queloz found the first exoplanet orbiting a Sun-like star.
