The Mercury Dime, officially known as the Winged Liberty Head Dime and popularly known as the Mercury Head Dime, was minted by the United States from 1916 to 1945. Designed by Adolph Weinman, the coin features a portrait of Liberty wearing a winged cap on the obverse; the reverse depicts Roman fasces and an olive branch. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, and it was replaced by the Roosevelt Dime in 1946.
