Brewed in 1852 for an expedition to the Arctic led by Sir Edward Belcher, the ale had the special qualities of a freezing point well below zero degrees and could be used as a source of nutrition for sailors. One of the few surviving bottles of this beer sold on eBay in 2007 for $503,300 dollars.
