Friedrich Hayek was an Austrian-born, Nobel Prizewinning economist who believed in free-market capitalism. As a protégé of Ludwig von Mises, Hayek was a strong proponent of the Austrian school of economics. In 1927, he went on to form the Austrian Institute for Business Cycle Research, where he served as director until 1931.
