The East India Company was granted a Roya Character on December 31st, 1600, by Queen "Elizabeth I, to participate in the spice trade coming out of India and Southeast Asia. As time went on, the East India Company grew in size and influence, eventually becoming the largest company in the world and even maintaining a private army that was almost twice the size of Britain's.
