Augusta Ada King (Lovelace) was an English mathematician and writer. Having worked with Charles Babbage on his mechanical computer, Lovelace recognized the potential applications of the computer beyond that of just pure calculation.
Lovelace went on to publish the first computer algorithm and is recognized as one of the first computer programmers.
