Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh of ancient Egypt who reigned from circa 1473-1458 BCE after initially serving as regent for her stepson, Thutmose Ill, but later assuming the title and full regalia of pharaoh for herself. Known for her prosperous reign, Hatshepsut expanded trade routes and commissioned extensive building projects such as her mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari.
