Founded in 2019 by Sam Bankman-Fried and Gary Wang, FTX was a cryptocurrency exchange that offered traders access to spot markets, derivatives products, and even NFTs. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2022 when it was revealed that the company was in debt by over $8 billion to its creditors, largely made up of traders and individual cryptocurrency investors.
