John Pierpont Morgan was an American investment banker and financier who was instrumental in the formation of prominent companies such as General Electric, US Steel, and the banking firm bearing his name, J.P. Morgan and Company Incorporated. Morgan was also a prominent art collector. His collection is currently housed at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York.
